Real Madrid keeping tabs on Roma midfielder Manu Kone

There is no doubt that Real Madrid have had a very productive and exciting summer transfer window, as they brought in up to six new players to reinforce all the areas of the team, barring the goalkeeper position.

However, one area where the reinforcements seem somewhat underwhelming is that of the midfield. The Merengues went into this summer transfer window with this as one of the main areas that needed addressing, and they made a key signing early in the summer for this area, namely Bernardo Silva.

Still, the fans were left asking for more, especially after the club missed out on signing Rodri Hernandez. As things stand, Real Madrid consider their squad to be complete, and any more new signings are not expected, even though some departures can still take place.

In such a context, the Merengues seem to be already keeping an eye out on players who can reinforce their midfield in the future. This is clear from a report from Diario AS, which claims that the AS Roma midfielder Manu Kone is on their radar.

The report claims that Los Blancos have been watching him for some time now, and also watched him play as Roma beat Franco Mastantuono’s Fiorentina side 4-0 in the first game of their 2026-27 season. Furthermore, he also impressed with his performances for France during the recent World Cup, especially in the games for which Aurelien Tchouameni was unavailable due to physical problems.

The Frenchman’s playing style and profile match Mourinho’s preferences, but Real Madrid are not watching him with the intent to land him this summer. He is being assessed as an option for the future, even if one of their current midfielders ends up leaving the club before the end of the summer transfer window, with Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga linked with moves to the Premier League.
