The electoral board at Real Madrid have responded to questioning over the fairness of the voting system during the upcoming elections, scheduled to take place on Sunday. Enrique Riquelme is the outsider to usurp incumbent President Florentino Perez, but has expressed concerns over the neutrality of the voting system.
The electoral board is in charge of supervising the elections, and ensuring they go off in a fair manner. During recent days, Riquelme had questioned whether the postal votes included in the results will be legitimate, comparing Perez to former Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, who had been accused regularly of election fraud, after results closing in on a 100% of the votes cast in recent years. Perez has also been accused of accessing the electoral roll in order to send out propaganda to potential voters.
Electoral board respond to Enrique Riquelme

On Wednesday, the Real Madrid electoral emitted a statement, denying that Perez has had access to the electoral roll and assuring that they are rigorously following the election rules stated in the the clubs statutes. They also denied Riquelme’s insinuations that the postal vote would not be carried out according to those rules.
The Electoral Board is very concerned about the statements made by Enrique Riquelme, which cast doubt on the custody and security of postal votes, since, in response to a question from said candidacy on this matter, the Electoral Board responded in writing, from which we transcribe this extract:
“In order to reinforce transparency and confidence in the integrity of the postal vote custody procedure, candidates who request it may designate one of the validly accredited observers to remain continuously in the vicinity of the access to the room enabled for the custody of the votes.
Riquelme’s promises for election campaign

Riquelme has become increasingly critical of Perez in recent days, especially surrounding his plans to sell off a percentage of the club, and his management of the Santiago Bernabeu reforms. This week he revealed that Raul Gonzalez would be his sporting director, and has promised that he has two star signings lined up, as well as a manager. Riquelme has also promised to half the price of season tickets until Los Blancos win the Champions League again, and bigger discounts for members going to games.
